What is GST?
Goods and Services Tax (GST) is an indirect tax used in India on the supply of goods and services. It is a comprehensive, multistage, destination-based tax that has replaced many indirect taxes in India, such as the excise duty, VAT, services tax, etc. The GST is levied at every step in the production process, but is meant to be refunded to all parties in the various stages of production other than the final consumer.
How to Use the GST Calculator?
Our GST calculator is a simple, ready-to-use tool that allows business owners and consumers to calculate the GST payable for a specific period or item. You can use it in two ways:
- Add GST (Exclusive): Use this when you have the base amount of an item and need to add the GST amount to arrive at the total billing price.
- Remove GST (Inclusive): Use this when you have the total billing price and want to find out the base amount and the tax amount separately.
GST Calculation Formulas
Depending on whether you are adding or removing GST, the mathematical formulas used are:
Adding GST (Exclusive)
Total Amount = Base Amount + GST Amount
Removing GST (Inclusive)
Base Amount = Total Amount - GST Amount
